For the 4th edition of its project curators zone, Le Cube invites the independent curator, Jeanne Mercier, co-founder of the platform Afrique in Visu.

In the attempt to extend the existing connections between Rabat and Casablanca, Jeanne Mercier proposes, for Le Cube, an exhibition in conjunction with the festival Masnaâ in Casablanca.
The 4th edition compares the contemporary art work from two cities, Casablanca and Tunis, with the presentation of projects by artists from both countries, including visual arts, cinema, music and performance.

Masnaâ Saghir (Mini Masnaâ in the Moroccan Arab dialect) presentes three artists whose work explores, in different ways, the intimate in relation to the image.

ismaël presents three works. Two of them are of a photographic nature: Diary part 1, geography of the intimate, is a diary that is based on daily life, of prosaism, encounters and trips (Tunisia, France, Lebanon, Morocco). Especially conceived for Le Cube, Sauf le visage (“Just the face”) is a project in an unprecedented form, which tries to trace the origins of ‘video chat’, and take it back to its beginnings: photography; and one video entitled Selfportrait01, uses V.H.S. archives of his family and considers questions about our relationship to the image.

Fakhri El Ghezal exhibits his photographic series Sidi(s), made over a period of six years, where the protagonists, sculptors, painters, designers, theater, actors/directors, all lived together in several houses, near the Superior Institute of Fine Art of Tunis, in the Bab Sidi Abdesselem Quarter.

Randa Maroufi screens La Grande Safae, a film that is inspired by a character known as la Grande Safae. She addresses the question of staging and the truthfulness of facts in the guise of identity disorder.

By playing on the space of Le Cube, an old apartment transformed into an art center, this exhibition brings together propositions that question today’s society, the personal and the collective memory, and representation, as they also consider our relationship to the image and the real.
