The projects of Mustapha Akrim question the notion of work and its relation to young people and to the job market.

As part of the summer’s lab, Mustapha Akrim initiates a work on the long run, on the fly as a metaphor for issues and socio-political contexts in Morocco. In this context, the fly becomes the image and the pretext to intrigue the public, as it invites to the necessity of becoming aware of one’s place in the educational and political system within which we evolve.

Using drawing on paper and slate, photographs and installations, this work in progress ignites a reflection on our systems and its complex issues.

The tracks that have been followed and the research that has been developed by the artist during the residency are exhibited in the framework of this open studio. The presentation taking place in the presence of the artist is a call for interaction and exchange.

“My work is a practical artistic reflection with a critical and political dimension. It proposes a sample of creations with an ironic view on educational issues. It’s a research about educational mediums as means of expression.”
Mustapha Akrim, 2013
