Käthe Hager von Ströbele composes photographs and installations to uncover the characteristics of photography itself. Through her artistic practice, she investigates human habits, recomposes them and exposes them through remains, vestiges, and traces of usages and customs. She processes the relation between body and surface, between photography and space, by showing objects of everyday life in medial transition.

The exhibition Auf Putz transforms the space of Le Cube – independent art room into surface projections, where new textures and images merge with the body and the outside world. When we identify with such in situ adornments, we walk daily, on a “catwalk”, a podium, on which our living bodies parade, along the projection surfaces, which shows much more than just the body.

As if things have a memory, the works narrate the vivacity of what is absent. It is the contemplation of the envelope that enables us to have a more profound look than one that is real, but which a furtive moment could never be able to provide.

Hence, in this composition of photography, video and space installations, Käthe Hager von Strobele takes the stead of an advocate of an artistic practice which examines human existence expressed in remaining vestiges and the relics of customs and habits.
