The graduate of the National institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan, Hanane El Farissi, works on the body and its relation to space. While leading her research, the artist keeps constructing and deconstructing her image, repairs scars, and ignites dialogues on stigmas that self and society would prefer to bury.

Thus, in the exhibition, Hanane El Farissi presents an installation that consists of seven videos where the artist stages in an innovative way our relationship towards ourselves, the body and images. At the heart of every video, a reproduction of the image of Hanane El Farissi that the artist burns, crumples, irons, crumples again, tears, sews. These simple gestures inspired by everyday life are all actions that call for healing and reconstruction.

Further the artist presents a series of collages and photographs, spaces of research on the body and its images.

Erasing the frontiers between real existence and the image of the outside world, between oneself and those who surround one is also the theme of Casse-glass, a performance she has made exclusively for Le Cube – independent art room.
With
Casse-glass, the artist positions the body and its image at the center of her performance. By breaking the mirror and its reflection, the artist confronts the audience with a feeling of confusion and fear of loss. But by collecting scattered debris, another self-image is recomposed.

“All while using the image, body and space, through several objects I try to disturb. I am in the quest of something overwhelming, I fight using simple actions that are part of our daily life.” (Hanane El Farissi)
