“In Greece, I have learnt that the word “art” is spoken as “Kali techni. This literally means good technique. This definition is my starting point. First, the good technique, and second, giving free reign to one’s imagination, singular vision, doubts and the influence that his environments and encounters have. It is also question to allow the latter to affect the way our eyes view things, history and stories, notions and concepts; and thus, try to question the status quo, to create meaning, to communicate emotions, to engender sensations and create connections with the other.

I make images via photography and video. I also make use of graphic design on computer to create posters or publications of different formats. What I do is a means for me to decipher my world. I may have precise working tools or a distinguished style when it comes to composition, but I treat diverse subjects. I come across the things and people I work with. This always starts by an encounter. The human in his intimacy is an aspect that interests me enormously. How does he claim the world from his point of view, and how does he combine his surroundings, his influences and his aspirations …

Besides and in parallel with all that, I am interested lately in the artist’s condition, his relation as an individual to society, to the frameworks and constraints that get imposed on him. I am particularly interested how this interacts with his manner of creating, in geographies and different realities, notably in the Algerian society or the so-called region of the Maghreb.”
